10 Signs Your Dog Is Bored and What You Can Do About It

Dogs need more than food, water, and a comfortable bed. They also need mental stimulation and regular activity.

When dogs become bored, they may develop behaviors that can be frustrating for owners.

Signs Your Dog May Be Bored

1. Excessive barking

Your dog may bark simply because it needs something interesting to do.

2. Chewing furniture

Destructive chewing can sometimes be caused by boredom.

3. Digging

Repeated digging in the yard can be a sign that your dog needs more stimulation.

4. Following you constantly

Your dog may be looking for entertainment or attention.

5. Sleeping excessively

Dogs naturally sleep a lot, but a sudden increase may deserve attention.

6. Pacing around the house

Restless walking can indicate that your dog isn't getting enough activity.

7. Stealing objects

Some dogs grab shoes, socks, or other household items because it gets them attention.

8. Whining

Frequent whining can be your dog's way of asking for interaction.

9. Overexcitement

A dog with pent-up energy may become extremely excited over small things.

10. Losing interest in normal activities

Changes in behavior should always be monitored.

How to Help

Try daily walks, puzzle feeders, short training sessions, hide-and-seek games, and interactive toys.

You don't always need expensive toys. Even five to ten minutes of training can provide valuable mental stimulation.
